Evaluation Mechanics OverviewTypes of Evaluations • Objective vs Subjective • Both are important to Official’s rating and development • Many Factors moved Committee toward Objective • Formal Evaluation • Published • Non-Published, Official requested • Peer & Partner Evaluation • Cumulative, Twice in the Season

Peer & Partner Evaluation Mechanics Overview • Weeks 0-3 and Weeks 4-7 • Everyone who works a Varsity game • Easy for crews, Crew Chief managed • Area Directors manage Pool games • Capture Subjective Data • A Crew Chief tool for training • Subjective, Snapshots, Soft skills, honesty counts • Collect, reflect, and submit via email • Area Directors & Crew Chief request completion

  9. Formal Evaluation Mechanics Overview • Confirm with your partner • Car pool if practical • Game Day Evaluation Recommendations • Submit the Evaluation • Review in Hudl as needed • Amend Evaluation as needed • Submit Fee Request

Formal Evaluation Mechanics Details • Observe and Rate Pregame Activities • Note all penalties for crew review • Note plays of interest • Focus on Individual official for 2-3 series • Adjust focus for Special Situations • Kicking game, Goal Line, Penalties • Take wide view for overall Crew comments

Formal Evaluation Mechanics Details • Be in the locker room for Half Time • Observe but don’t participate • Second half • Double check ratings and behaviors • Look for any adjustments discussed at Half • Develop the post game comments • Be in the locker room for Postgame • In most cases the Crew Chief goes first • In most cases ONE Evaluator will present the comments • Per Official & Crew Provide one item for immediate improvement • Per Official & Crew Provide at least one positive observation • Keep it short
