  3. WOOLWORTHS IN THE 60’S HOWEVER, SEGREGATION WAS THE LAW. AFRICAN AMERICANS WERE NOT PERMITTED TO SIT AT THE COUNTERS AND BE SERVED.

  4. GREENSBORO FOUR IN FEBRUARY, FOUR FRESHMAN FROM NORTH CAROLINA A&T DECIDED TO CHALLENGE THE LAW.

  7. THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT

  8. AFRICAN AMERICANS WERE BEGINNING TO SEE THAT PROTESTING, BOYCOTTING, AND MARCHING COULD HELP THEM GAIN EQUAL RIGHTS.

  9. HOWEVER… EVEN WHEN THEY PERFORMED PEACEFUL PROTESTS, BLACKS WERE MET WITH EXTREME VIOLENCE FROM WHITES; INCLUDING THE POLICE, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, AND THE KKK.

  10. IT TOOK STRONG CONVINCING FROM SOMEONE WITH GREAT ORATORICAL SKILLS AND PERSUASIVE SPEECH TO ASK PEOPLE NOT TO REACT TO CONSTANT PHYSICAL ABUSE.

  11. DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR DR. KING WAS A PHENOMENAL SPEAKER WHO MIXED GREAT ORATORICAL SKILL AND THE BIBLE TO PERSUADE OTHERS TO BE NON-VIOLENT IN THE FACE OF VIOLENCE.

  13. CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT COULD YOU BE CONVINCED TO ALLOW SOMEONE TO BE VIOLENT TOWARDS YOU AND YOU DO NOTHING IN RETURN? WOULD YOU HAVE JOINED “THE MOVEMENT?”
