Bel Red Design and Mitigation Permit Alternative Landscape Option Consultant Streetscape Proposal EAST LINK STREETS Sound Transit’s East Link rail alignment creates a unique street typology through the Be lRedCorridor that should be expressed and highlighted through the selection of a tree equally unique that also satisfies light rail’s operational criteria. Magyar Ginkgo has been selected for its leaf with rare parallel venation (similar to rails), brilliant fall color, and upright form which will not interfere with the rail system’s overhead catenary system. Plant Selection Criteria: • Consistent with system palette for rider understandability • Satisfies operational criteria of rail Recommendation: • Magyar Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba ‘Magyar’) Light Rail Permitting Committee
