  4. Don’t forget stem-changers.Remember there a stem-change in the 3rd person of the present tense, isn’t there? • Empezar(ie) - Empieza ahora. Begin now. • Volver(ue)- Vuelve a las once. Return at 11:00. • Seguir(i,i)- Sigue el ejemplo. Follow the example.

  37. Ok then….What about reflexive pronouns? me nos te os se se • Sentarse(ie) - Siéntate. Sit down. (seat yourself) • Divertirse(ie,i) - Diviértete. Have fun • Acostarse(ue) - Acuéstate. Go to bed. • Mirarse - Mírate. Look at yourself. >Attach the reflexive pronoun on to the end of the command. >Place a written accent on the 3rd to the last syllable to maintain stress there. (where it would have been if the pronoun were not there) If there are only 2 syllables, no accent is needed. >Since you are commanding a peer, you will be using the “te” reflexive pronoun.

Write a letter to us. • Mándales un fotografíaa ellos. Send a photo to them. > All pronouns, no matter what type, must be attached on to affirmative commands > Again, the accent! (unless there are only 2 syllables – “dame”. > Don’t forget you may clarify a third person indirect object pronoun with a noun phrase as in the last example.

  41. El imperativo con pronombres indirectos y pronombres directos. 1. Muéstramelo. Show it to me. 2. Dánoslas. Give them to us. 3. Escríbemelos. Write them to me. 4. Mándasela. Send it to them. (les) 5. Tráeselos. Bring them to her. (le) • The accent is on the 4th to the last syllable where it would normally be without any pronouns added. If there are only 3 syllables, place the accent on the 3rd to last syllable - “Dámelo.” • In example 4, les (to them) changed to se. • In example 5, le (to her) changed to se. • Le or les in front of lo,la,los,or las will always change to se.

  42. Ejemplos • Sé buen amigo. Be a good friend. • Haz tu trabajo y hazlo bien. Do your work and do it well. • Ten paciencia. Have patience. • Ven aquí. Come here. • Sal. Leave. • Dime la verdad. Tell me the truth. • Díselo. Tell it to him. • Ponte los zapatos. Put on your shoes. • Póntelos. Put them on. • >In the last example, place the reflexive pronoun before the direct object pronoun.
