  1. EMPLOYMENT ORIENTATION PROGRAM AT SEABROOK VILLAGE

  2. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The ultimate goal is to have each student employed at his/her highest competitive level upon graduation. Students are taught specific employment skills in a natural setting in the community for a full year program. Students are in a non-paid training plan to develop work skills necessary for success. The program encompasses both community and school-based training class for practical math skills, social skills, and a forum to discuss real life experiences from the community placement. An SLE must teach the class. A qualified (trained) job coach will eventually supervise the work site. Examples of such sites are: Seabrook Village, The Sheraton, and The Chelsea House.

  3. CRITERIA FOR ENTRY • Student must be eligible for special education services • Student must be at least 16 years old and not more than 21. • Student is not participating in a vocational program. • The student’s level of functioning must initially require intensive support from the SLE/Job Coach

  4. CRITERIA • Fifth year students have acceptance priority to the Program • “Wait-Listed” students have second priority for Program acceptance • Both student and parent must agree to remain in the Program for at least 30 days

  5. Out Of District Students • If the student is in an out of district placement, the student must be able to return to Monmouth Regional High School for the academic “wrap around” and employment orientation components of the program. If a student is in district, they must attend both the academic “wrap around” and employment orientation components of the program.
