  2. Potential Energy Energy is measured in the amount of "work" it does. Examples of Gravitational potential energy are water behind a dam you at the top of a hill on your skateboard. This energy is referred to as potential energy, because if it were released, it would do a lot of work.

  3. Potential Energy

  4. Energy-Down the hill Potential

  5. Elastic Potential EnergyExamples of elastic potential energy are a sling shot pulled back or a spring

  6. Chemical Potential Energy is energy caused by chemical reactions. A good example of chemical energy is food when it is cooked, as the different ingredients and products are mixed together , they are heated. This heating causes chemical reactions. Driving a car is also type of chemical energy from the fossil fuels being burned (gas)Photosynthesis is also a chemical reaction. This is a process where the plants using light energy from the sun convert carbon dioxide and water to glucose sugar and oxygen gas through a series of reactions.

  7. Electrical Potential Energyis when electricity creates motion, light or heat. An example of electrical energy is the electric coils on your stove. Lightning is also a form of potential electric energy

  8. Magnetic potential energy is the form of energy related not only to the distance between magnetic materials, but also to the orientation, or alignment of the magnets . If the opposite poles are held apart, the potential energy will be the highest when they are near the edge of their attraction, and the lowest when they pull together. Conversely, like poles will have the highest potential energy when forced together, and the lowest when they spring apart.

  9. Mechanical potential Energy is the energy of motion that does the work. An example of mechanical energy is the wind as it turns a windmill.
