  2. Urie Bronfenbrenner Ecological systems Urie Bronfenbrenner’s main concentration were infants and children. He believed that the affect of the family, communities, culture, and social institutions have a significant impact on the child. His model are a series of layers which influence the child’s development. • Microsystem: This system revolves around the child’s home, childcare or school and neighbourhood setting. It is where a child develops social skills through there relationship and interactions. (Nixon .D.& Gould .k. 1999) • Exosystem: it is a different environment / setting impact on the child. For instants parents workplace, extended family and the media .(Nixon .D.& Gould .k. 1999) • Macrosystem: Focus’s on the religious, culture, values and beliefs in which the child will be born and raised in. (Nixon .D.& Gould .k. 1999) • Chronosystem: is about theevents and transitions that occur over there life. (Nixon .D.& Gould .k. 1999) • Mesosystem: Involves connections made between the characteristics of the microsystem. For instants relationships between parents and the child’s caregiver or between the child’s parent and another parent.

Avatar : My virtual child • Michael is 4 years old. • His mother Rose is sole caregiver and they live in a two bedroom flat. • Michaels dad passed away from cancer when he was 2 years of age. • Michael attends long day care four days a week. • Rose works as a doctors receptionist from 9am to 3pm Monday to Thursday making $480 a week. • On weekends Michael goes with his next door neighbour to the local park and plays where there five year old son. • On Sunday's he goes to his grand mothers house for lunch.
