Industrial Revolution DBQ Issues
Thesis • Should be no more than 2 sentences. • Last two sentences of your intro. • First two sentences of your conclusion. • Many of you said the IR was positive; child labor was positive. YIKES! Whatever side you choose; defend it.
Set the Stage • What was the Industrial Revolution? • Where did the Industrial Revolution start and why? (Many of you jumped right into economic systems)
BIAS • Why is the document biased • If the POV is that the author is an educated scholar, how is it biased? (Modern day author that did not live through the events)
BIAS • The testimony = oral presentation; child abuse was reported by someone who experienced it but later on. • POV and bias are not the same.
BIAS • POV+ bias = point on the rubric. • TWO SEPARATE COMPONENTS = 1
POV • Matthew Crabtree means nothing to me: What social class? What is his background?
Missing voice • Why is it needed? • Be careful with child labor; some of you didn’t specify a child’s account at the time of the child labor. • Needs to connect to your OSI?
PROVE IT • Child labor was used because…. • Cheap, could fit in small spaces! • Labor laws were not in place.
FACTS • Laissez faire = economic = Adam Smith • Japan document 1967!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mastery • Information from the webquest/SAC • Expanded core = OSI
Organization • Penmanship • Staple/label pages in order • Pacing
