Requirements, continued… • Length of spoken presentation must be between 3—5 minutes. • Written portion must be typed, printed out, and given to teacher on due date at beginning of class. • Spoken portion may not be simply read from your visual, from notes, etc. Highest possible grade for a presentation that is in full or partially read is an 80% • La hispanidad project will be equivalent to a major test grade. • Be prepared to answer potential questions from your audience. • You must reference at least 3 different sources (and include this in the written portion). • POSSIBLE TOPICS of interest to choose from: A historical figure (i.e. José María Morelos; Miguel de Cervantes; Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, etc.; A musical genre; a specific city or architecture (los acueductos de Segovia, la Plaza Mayor (Madrid), el Zócalo (Cd. de México), etc.; stereotypes, such as: el trabajadormexicano; el picante; el sombrero; los gauchos argentinos; el frijol, etc.

  7. Sample topics and thesis statements: • Topic (sample #1): Miguel de Cervantes (16th Century author of Don Quijote) • Thesis statement #1: Spanish author, Miguel de Cervantes (your topic goes here), is a great example of la hispanidad because his great works are still studied today. • Topic (sample #2): el toroespañol (Spanish bull) • Thesis statement #1: The image of el toroepitomizes the culture of Spain since it is has been used for centuries and is recognized throughout the world. • Then… your actual project content and presentation should all support your argument/thesis!
