  1. PHOS Cooling status (1-6 Oct)Brief 28 Sep start cool down to 5°C (by cooling liquid) 1 Oct at 5 Am cooling plant failure happened: ECV (electrical control valve) controller alarm raised due to battery fail (inside controller) Problem temporary fixed after 8 hours (switch ECV in manual control mode: work in non-optimal mode). Normal operation mode started after 3 days with battery alarm OFF (after some tests with controller). PHOS cooling now work in normal operation mode. Cooling liquid ~5°C, PWO ~7°C, FEE in 16÷20°C range, humidity in 10÷20% range. Liquid leak ~1 L per 5 days in PHOS-4.

  2. PHOS Cooling status (1-6 Oct) PHOS temperatures FEE2 FEE3 FEE4 PWO3 PWO2 PWO4 ECV failure C6F14 Normal operation Temporary operation (manual mode)

  3. PHOS Cooling status (1-6 Oct)PHOS-2 humidity, 7÷15% % PWO2 FEE2

  4. PHOS Cooling status (1-6 Oct)PHOS-3 humidity, PWO=20%, FEE=15% % PWO3 FEE3

  5. PHOS Cooling status (1-6 Oct)PHOS-4 humidity, PWO=12÷20%, FEE=15% This sensor looks strange, maybe damage? PWO3 FEE3

  6. PHOS Cooling status (1-6 Oct)Liquid level going down, now 59 L We have leak ~1 Liters per 5-6 days (inside PHOS-4, it seems) Liquid filling

  7. PHOS Cooling status (1-6 Oct)Temperature of pump’s cover Cooling plant have 2 pumps. 1st pump looks more “cold” (why?). During 1 Oct incident pump temperature raised up to 45°C. Pumps works in “round-robin” mode to have equal resource (working time) Pump1 Pump2

  8. PHOS Cooling status (1-6 Oct)Temperature of compressor’s cover In normal operation mode cover have temp-re in 35÷58°C range. During 1 Oct incident compressor temp-re up to 70÷80°C. In manual mode temp-re range more wide (20÷60 °C). Compressors works in “round-robin” mode to have equal resource (working time) Interlock on compressor’s cover temperature should be added to control software Incident 1 Oct Compressor-1 Compressor-3 Compressor-2 Compressor-4 Normal mode Manual mode (not optimal) Pump1 Pump2

  9. PHOS Cooling status (1-6 Oct) What is ECV controller

  10. PHOS Cooling status (1-6 Oct) ECV controller failure Alarm: Battery failure

  11. PHOS Cooling status (1-6 Oct) ECV controller problem fixed now Battery Alarm switched OFF as tests with controller show, controller can work without battery if battery alarm is OFF

  12. PHOS Cooling status (1-6 Oct)To Do • ECV controller alarm signal should be connected to cooling control system • Some additional program (software) blocking (interlocks) should be added • Some investigations should be done to find optimal and fault-safe parameters of cooling control software • Documentation should be updated after this changes • PHOS-4: to be or not to be… After this will be done, we are ready to cool down to -25 (?) It will takes about 2-3 weeks (?)
