  2. Suggested GeneralCase Analysis Procedure • Read the case. • Read it again. • Perform any necessary outside research • Follow the format. • Any assumptions you wish are allowed, as long as they are reasonable and explicitly identified. • Have fun with the case.

  3. Step 1: Scan Your Environment • Analyze the environment (social, legal, etc.) • Analyze the market • Analyze the industry • Analyze competitors • Analyze your firm

  4. Step 2: Perform SWOT Analysis INTERNAL Strengths Weaknesses EXTERNAL Opportunities Threats

  5. Step 3: DEFINE THE PROBLEM!!

  6. Step 4: Develop Alternatives At least 4 Alternatives • Rarely is maintain status quo acceptable • Can combine 2+ alternatives into a single alternative • “Gathering more information” is rarely a viable option.

  7. Step 5: Examination of Alternatives • Identify criteria by which alternatives will be examined. • Examine each alternative in relation to these criteria.

  8. Step 6: Choose and Justify ONE Alternative as your Recommended Solution NOTE: You will stop after this step in your analysis
