  9. Trends in sound • Approaches to participating: • 3 of 4 first generations used sound files almost as-is. • 2nd generation in general kept sounds from 1st generation intact but added filters/effects, speed changes • Most used layering of sounds

Trends in soundSimilarities • Some limited evidence of stability • Transition to dream sequence saw a tendency to use 2 clips (Burmese Vibes and/or Japanese Shamisen) • This occurred in 3 first generations and both second generations • Airship sequence saw both Whale Song and JapanaseShamisen • This occurred in 2 first generations and 1 second generation • Waking sequence saw tendency to use Sungsang band clip • 2 first generations and 2 second generations • Use of the burning rocket in dream sequence as a sound event trigger.

What other trends would there be? • In what ways does each generation differ (approaches)? • Can you predict what the next generation will do? • Is there a point where the original becomes unrecognizable? Would this cause social conflicts? • How does access to tools impact the fairness/evaluation of the process? How could we motivate to use our tool? Would this help the project, and if so, how? • How do get people to forward/share to others? • Would others beyond our circle of acquaintances find it compelling enough to participate? • Next steps… • Questions?
