  4. Modules to be studied Local Observer 1. Attitude 2. Riding Skills 3. Demonstration Skills 4. Observing Skills 5. Organisational Skills National Observer 1-5 above but to a higher standard + 6. Self Evaluation

  5. National Observer • Qualification of National Observer has been uncoupled from the group role of Senior Observers • Over time, Local Observers encouraged to progress to National Observer • No charge for National Observer qualification • Training for National Observer led and delivered by local IAM group • No time limit for training • Registration for National Observer training must be sponsored by local group

  6. National Observer Assessment • IAM Staff Examiner using IMI standards • Ideally using a real associate • Questions on elements the examiner may not have been able to see • Quality of assessments will be verified by IAM(all paperwork and some tests) • In the event of failing a module, 3 month window from date of first test to pass failed module. Outside 3 months window have to re-sit all of the test • Periodically Re-qualify (possibly every 5 years) with Staff Examiner

  7. Local observer(?) • Assessed by group examiner holding National Observer qualification against IMI standards • Ideally using a real associate • Questions on elements the examiner may not have been able to see • Quality of assessments will be verified by IAM staff examiner (paperwork and some tests) • Unclear if re-qualification needed over time

  8. Timescales • National Observer • Jan 2013 Car Bike • Registrations 177 169 • Passes 43 29 • NAM existing Seniors will re-qualify as National Observers as and when 3 year assessment due • 2013 cohort of TSOs will register for National Observer ASAP • Local Observer • IAM pilot spring 2013, roll out summer 2013 (ish) • NAM will implement this for Feb 2014 cohort
