  1. 99 Days… …and 3 Ways to Make it Work!

  2. Welcome Hello and welcome to the 99 Days Survey completion tutorial. The name of this presentation is 99 Days…and 3 Ways to Make it Work. This tutorial will cover the 3 different ways to access and complete the 99 Days Pre and Post Surveys.

  3. Way #1- Paper and Pencil The first way that the 99 Days Pre and Post surveys can be completed is via the paper and pencil method.

  4. What You Will Need? For the paper and pencil method all you will need is a Master Copy of the Pre Survey and a Master Copy of the Post Survey. From the Master copy, additional copies can be made using a copy machine, as needed. Master copies will be provided to you upon request If this is your preferred method of survey, contact Kari L. Rice and she will see to it that you have a set of Master copies at your facility.

  5. What Do You Do Next? Upon completion of paper and pencil surveys… all surveys need to be collected and returned to Kari L. Rice in the Central Office for processing Make sure to bundle all Pre Tests together and all Post Tests Together (try not to mix) The data will be entered into our records keeping system and then shredded Student anonymity will be maintained, as DOC numbers will only be used to ensure Pre and Post survey results (matching)

  6. Way #1- Paper and Pencil • The Benefits • No Internet? No problem! – data can still be collected regardless • Data on program effectiveness • Student progress reporting • The Challenges • Making copies and ensuring you have enough on hand • Mailing completed information • Student motivation

  7. Way #2- Online Survey Completion The second way that the 99 Days Pre and Post surveys can be completed is via the computer and the Internet.

  8. What You Will Need? A secure Internet connection Online address for the Pre Survey Online address for the Post Survey Time built into the schedule for students to Pre and Post assess

  9. What Do You Do Next? Upon completion of online surveys…information will be calculated electronically, instantaneously. When the student hits the “Enter” key on the keyboard, the data is computed If this is your preferred method, contact Kari L. Rice for the Pre Survey Address and the Post Survey Address (do not mix them up) It will be up to the facility to ensure that all students Pre and Post assess, as via the online method, limited matching will occur.

  10. Way #2- Online Survey Completion • The Benefits • Less time to complete • Increased student motivation via electronic means • Instant data • No paperwork! • The Challenges • Ensuring that ALL students Pre and Post assess (some type of facility system to track, possibly a grade for Pre and Post assess) • No paper, limited data matching

  11. Way #3- Offline Survey Completion Using Computer The third way that the 99 Days Pre and Post surveys can be completed is via the computer in an offline environment.

  12. What You Will Need? A Computer Microsoft Excel 2007 (or 2003) installed Thumb Drive Time built into the schedule for students to Pre and Post assess The offline Pre and Post assessment master template installed on computer desktop Basic knowledge of how to use the “File- Save As” feature

  13. What Do You Do Next? • Makesure you have everything that you need (see previous slide) • If you need a thumb drive contact Kari L. Rice • To get the offline templates, Tracy L. Chenoweth will email them to you upon your request • Watch the flash demonstration tutorial on how to use the offline template (Pre/Post) • Where is the tutorial located? In the OIEP File Cabinet, under the 99 Days section

  14. Way #3- Offline Survey Completion • The Benefits • Less time to complete • Increased student motivation via electronic means • No paperwork • Completion data matching • No need for facility tracking • The Challenges • Getting the items you need in place • Learning how to manage files • Learning to use the “Save As” feature • Teaching students how • Organizing information

  15. The Choice is Yours! No matter the method, the data collection will be invaluable There are benefits and challenges to all three approaches You need to implement the best choice for your facility
