    • Choose your HRSC scene(s) over an area of your choice on Mars (with PSA)

    • Find recent literature on the area (e.g. on ADS)

    • Analyze the geology and geomorphology of the area with color and stereo information

    • Get higher resolution data for detailed observations

    • Objective: observe and analyze the canyon structure, walls and interior

    • Tasks:

    • characterize the morphology and color of surface materials

    • determine the local depth and thickness of deposits (using MOLA), use high-res images (MOC)

    • HRSC orbit: e.g. 0360

    • basic description of procedure(s)

      • search for data and get them from PSA (check BROWSE .jpg on PSA ftp site)

      • open level2 data with “xvd”

      • get all needed spice kernels

      • process level2 data with “hrortho”

      • produce level 3 data using a MARS IAU2000 ellipsoid

      • produce anaglyphs and RGB

      • visualize processed RGB, anaglyph, with “xvd”, “Gimp”

      • if possible, perform pan-sharpening

    the tutorials
