  1. Honduras Honduras is located in the middle of central America. It is surrounded by mountains, tropical forests, and the Caribbean sea borders it to the north. Honduras's capital is located in the southern part. Its capital is Tegucigalpa.

  2. A little bit about the flag. • This flag is based on the Central American Federation. The five stars symbolizes the five original members.

  3. Honduras’ Independence • September 15th, 1821 Honduras gained independence from Spain and was established. • Porfirio Lobo is now their current leader.

  4. Honduras’ historical Significance In 1998 Hurricane Mitch hit Honduras and Killed 5,600 people and cost about 2 billiondollarsworth of damage. They still haven’t recovered from this devastating event.

  5. Important Holidays La Ceiba is one of the largest celebrations in Honduras. San Pedro Sula and Santa Rosa de Copan are probably the 2 biggest holidays that they celebrate in Honduras.

  6. The Cathedral One of the famous buildings in Honduras is the Cathedral located in Tegucigalpa. This building was made between 1685 and 1715. When you go inside the building you are surprised by the large collection of fine art and one of the oldest clocks in the world, which was donated to the town by King Phillip the 2nd of Spain.

  7. Copan Copan is an old city that used to be run by the Maya Civilization. Copan is located in the western part of Honduras and not far from Guatemala. This used to be the capital of Honduras until their king was captured and executed around AD 738. In present day the eastern side of Copan is eroded because of the Copan River.

  8. Lempira Lempira was a Lenca chief and a warrior. In October 1537 he unified over 200 tribes who had been ancient rivals. He did this so there would be resistance against penetrationbythe Spanish. Governor Montejo ordered an attack on their stronghold but it was impenetrable. Lempira died by being invited to a peace conference and was assassinated by a hidden marksmen.

  9. Maribel Lieberman Maribel Lieberman is a famous chocolatier from Honduras. She has wanted to be a chocolatier ever sense she was young. Her mother was the one who taught her almost everything she knows. She started her company in 2001. Ever since she opened her Business her lifeis going great.

  10. Major Exports Honduras mostly exports its coffee products and its bananas. They also export sea food, gold, tobacco products, and lumber. Honduras usually makes about 5 billion dollars per year.
