  1. 5 Pointers for Keeping Your Gadgets in Top Shape Most gadgets have an average life span varying between 3 to 8 years. While laptops typically last longer than 5 years, other gadgets, like your smartphones live a little less. But, to see that your devices complete their average lifespan, you should ensure proper care. You must take proactive maintenance measures to keep them from malfunctioning or dying before their time. Here are 5 things you can do to ensure proper care and maintenance for your gadgets. How can you care for your gadgets to prolong their lifespan? 1. Keep them clean: Most of us are aware that heat is the enemy of all electronics. And the build-up of moisture and dirt on your laptop can cause them to overheat. Unless your gadgets are waterproof, you must keep them away from water or wet things like ponds, pools, or other water bodies. As for cleaning, here are a few tips: ●You must dust and clean your gadgets with solutions every once in a while. However, when doing so, be sure not to spray liquids directly on the laptop. Instead, use a microfiber cloth for cleaning. ●If you accidentally spill something on your laptop, turn off the PC and remove the battery and other gadgets like flash drives and DVDs. Next, place your laptop so that the water can be wiped out. Dry it with a towel. Later, if it malfunctions, take it to a repair shop. ●If somehow your phone gets wet, repeat the same steps. Turn off the phone to prevent it from short-circuiting, take out the sim card, shake off excess water, and use a paper towel to wipe off the phone. If the phone gets completely wet, you may need to use a drying agent like rice. 2. Use an antivirus: Maintenance of your laptop not only involves taking care of your hardware. You also need to ensure your software is running virus-free. For this, you must install anti-virus programs on your computer. Check it periodically to ensure it is updated. Besides, check your flash drives and DVDs before inserting them into your system and do not open emails from unknown senders. While it is rare for phones to be affected by viruses, it is not impossible. You can download an antivirus app on your phone and use the device judiciously to protect the software. 3. Ensure proper storage: Since we take our gadgets with us everywhere, we need to be careful to not lose or damage them. For this: ●Get a quality case like a padded laptop bag or sleeves to protect the gadget from scratches. ●Invest in screen protectors and protective cases to save them from dirt and scratches.

  2. ●Shut down your laptop before putting it inside the bag. A powered-on laptop may get overheated. ●Keep gadgets away from extreme temperatures. Don’t leave them in the sun or exposed to cold. 4. Care of your batteries: Since batteries are the life support system of your gadgets, you need to be careful with them. Follow these steps: ●Experts suggest shallow charges and discharges are better for your battery since they do not put much stress. So you must charge your devices as soon as they hit below 50% and should not charge them to 100%. ●You should charge your battery from 0% to 100% only once a month to recalibrate your battery. ●While charging overnight may not explode your phone, it can age the gadget faster. So, refrain from doing so. In the present times, our gadgets have become a significant part of our lives. We rely on them for every small thing, from directions to communications. Thus, you should follow the steps mentioned above to ensure your gadgets live long and happy and do not malfunction.
