  2. Introduction:-Plants and water are nature’s best gift to mankind. They reveal nature’s kindness to man. They help in a number of ways. It is the duty of every man to protect these natural resources. Plants provide”OXYGEN”gas .WE know very well that “water is the elixir of life”. Let me speak a few words about my school.

  3. Our school:- our school is railway high school (E.M),Guntakal.Our school has a special place in the history of our town. It is known for best studies and discipline.

  4. We have a very big building with spacious class rooms. It was constructed during British reign. The school campus is very large. A play ground lies behind the main building of the school. There are good number of trees all over the campus. A garden is grown by the students and the teachers .

  5. Status of plants:- • There are a very good number of trees in our school. There are 22 big trees in our school. They are huge and shady. • In the compound of our school there are 7 trees. Some of them are Neem trees.

  6. Around the trees we have built “TREE GUARD” to protect the trees and to enjoy the shade. Many students will sit on that, have their lunch, play games etc. • In Quadrangle we have 14trees. They are Neem, Eucalyptus etc. They give good shade. All the students have their lunch under the trees in the Quadrangle and classes are also conducted frequently, besides some functions.

  7. On the back side of our school we have a very big Neem tree. • Plants are now-a-days getting lot of water from rain. In summer municipality will provide us water. • We are growing a garden with a number of plants. Daily we are supplying water to them through taps, mugs and by buckets.

  8. TABLE SHOWING THE STATUS OF PLANTS IN OUR SCHOOL;-

  9. Many squirrels are seen on the tree in the Quadrangle.

  10. Our Municipality is supplying a good number of plants, to grow them in our school. Children’s roles in developing our garden and in supply water to them a special mention. Our school students are very much enthusiastic to water the plants. They take turns to water the plants. Leisure periods and P.T periods are utilized for the same. Necessary steps are also taken to remove the weeds, put manures to the plants etc.

  11. STATUS OF WATER;- • We have got good water facilities too, with 6 taps in the Quadrangle for drinking. We have two “sintex” water storage tank of 750 liters capacity each. • We use this water for watering the trees and for toilets also.

  12. There is also a separate tap with sink for use by the teachers. Separate water facilities are provided in staff and students toilets also. • We are also having 2”voltas” company water purifier cum coolers, but at present are under repair.

  13. INTIATIVES TAKEN TO KEEP UP THE STATUS OF PLANTS AND WATER;- • Regular watering of plants is monitored well. • Planning to establish “Eco-clubs’ to protect the plants. • Explaining the importance of plants and water to the children.

  14. INITIATIVES TAKEN TO PRESERVE THE STATUS:-.Preventing the children from cutting the branches of the trees. • Taking steps to replace “leaking” old taps with new ones. • Preventing water wastage by children by explaining them the importance of water.

  15. OUR PLANS IN FUTURE 1.We’ll like to establish a NGC unit in our school, with the permission of our higher authorities. 2.We’ll like to prepare plan for the effective recycling/reuse of solid water like paper etc of our school 3.Proposals for constructing rain water harvesting pits, to solve the water scarcity problem are also being considered, for effective reuse of rain water. 4.Our science teachers, especially of Biological sciences are planning to grow ‘Botanical garden’ also on the backside place of our school

  16. CONCLUSION:- I would like to say, over all that our school has a good status of plants and water. We all would surely strive hard to keep it up and improve it to the maximum extent possible. I thank one and all for giving me this opportunity.
