  1. Step 1: KnowledgeExhibits previously learned material by recalling facts, terms, basic concepts and answers. Direction: List knowledge of the problem What is the problem? What are some causes of it? What other information did we learn? Why should we care?

  2. Step 2: ComprehensionDemonstrating understanding of facts and ideas by organizing, comparing, translating, interpreting, giving descriptions and stating main ideas. Discussion Questions: (JUST DISCUSS AT THIS STAGE NO WRITING) 1. Does being in school actually benefit you, or is it just a place where you have to go because you're not old enough to do anything else? 2. If you weren't in school all day, what would you be doing with your time? How wouldyouractions be better or worse for you than your actions now? 3. Why do you think students drop out of school? (list at least 5 reasons) 4. What could be done by teachers, parents, administrators and you, to help make school more bearable and to help make graduation more achievable? 5. How would your life be different socially, mentally, and in regards to your career and family plans, if you were to drop out of high school right now? 6. What are five things that you can change to better cope with school? 7. How do extracurricular activities affect your attitude about school and do they encourage you to stay in school? 8. What significance will high school have on your life 15 years from now?

  3. Step 3: ApplicationSolving problems by applying acquired knowledge, facts, techniques and rules in a different way. Directions: As a group develop a solution to this problem. Do not write out anything yet. Just discuss a solution.

  4. Step 4: AnalysisExamining and breaking information into parts by identifying motives or causes; making inferences and finding evidence to support generalizations. Directions: Now write down your solution on paper.

  5. Step 5: SynthesisCompiling information together in a different way by combining elements in a new pattern or proposing alternative solutions. Directions: Now that you have a solution written up send your best typerto the computer to write it down digitally.

  6. Step 6: EvaluationPresenting and defending opinions by making judgments about information, validity of ideas or quality of work based on a set of criteria. Directions: Evaluate each solution in turn as group. Analyze the pros and cons of each solution. In this step just talk in your group.
