  3. The display • 128x64 graphics LCD • Software adjustable contrast • Software controlled Blue LED backlight (ON/OFF) • Up to 1024 pages • 50 object per page • Unicode font support

The I/O • Digital inputs can be configured as either positive or negative logic • Digital outputs are positive logic only (0.5A/output) • Relay outputs are rated at 250Vac/5A or 30Vdc/5A on resistive loads • Analogue inputs are of two types: • Standard 0-10V or 0-20mA inputs 10bit • Universal 0-10V, 0-20mA, RTD, TC, mV 14bit • Analogue outputs are 0-10V or 0-20mA (sinking) 12bit

  5. MicroSD™ • MicroSD™ is the latest memory size in the mobile phone industry • SANDisk offers 128MB, 256MB, 512MB and soon 1GB • The XLe is the first Industrial product to carry this memory type • Same features as CompactFlash™ on larger OCS products

  7. Applications Agriculture - A small rugged package, 12Vdc compatibility, and removable mass storage are ideal for the agricultural environment. Packaging - The XLe compact size, affordable price, and fast response time make it a natural choice for packaging machinery of all types. Water treatment - The XLe offers the perfect I/O mix, size, and communications capability for Pump Control, Tank Monitoring and Remote Telemetry in general. Temperature controller - With built-in RTD or Thermocouple inputs available, along with auto-tune PID, the XLe can perform advanced temperature control and much more on any machine.

I/O configuration • Software configuration and hardware configuration (jumper settings) have to match • For digital inputs choice of Positive or negative logic • For analogue inputs • 0-10V is the default setting in Europe • 0-20mA also needs grounding of voltage input • Thermocouple input select the correct element type • RTD input select the correct element type • For analogue outputs • 0-10V is the default setting in Europe. • 0-20mA is sinking only, need to provide loop power

  10. I/O configuration • High speed inputs (H1 to H4) have several operating modes: • Frequency input • Totalising • Pulse input • Encoder input

  11. I/O configuration • Up to 4 frequency inputs • Four frequency measurement periods: • 1 second • 100ms • 10ms • 1 scan cycle • Each input is connected to one 32bit wide register

  12. I/O configuration • Up to 4 totalising inputs • Counts up on rising or falling edge • Each input is connected to one 32bit wide register

  13. I/O configuration • Up to 4 pulse inputs • High/Low pulse width in 1us resolution • Rising/Falling edges per period in 1us resolution • Each input is connected to one 32bit wide register

  17. SMS Configuration Click Program and then select SMS Configuration tab on the Cscape main menu as shown below:

  18. SMS configuration The following SMS ConfigurationMain Screen appears. In this example, the screen is already configured. The SMS Configuration screen has several sections that require configuration.

SMS initialisation a.Enable SMS Configuration - Select the check box to begin SMS configuration. b.  Configuration Parameters Centre Number: if required, select the box and type in up to 16 digits, use numbers 0 – 9 and special characters: , ( ) – + SIM Pin Code: if required, select the box and type in up to 4 digits, use numbers 0 – 9 Command Interval: This is the interval of time (in seconds) that the OCS poll for messages (valid range: 1 - 100).    c.  Status Registers Settings Address: Enter the starting register location to indicate the status of the SMS communication. This is a block of four registers that are consecutive in memory. For example, if you are using R31– R34, you need to enter the starting register address as %R0031. Name: Enter (or select) an I/O Name.  The Status Register contains a status bit indicating the condition of the SMS communication.

SMS initialisation d.  Message Buffer Register Settings   The Message Buffer Register holds the latest SMS message string sent or received by the controller.  An individual SMS message can have up to 160 characters.   e.  Additional Settings Be sure to click each button and perform the configuration procedures associated with each button.  

  21. SMS Initialisation Modem Initialization Settings   Configure this screen to select the type of Modem Initialization that is going to be used. Configuration of Initialization Status Register Settings and User Specific Modem Initialization Script in the above screen is required when User Initialization Script is selected. Modem Initialization Settings The following options are available: No Initialization (Modem Preconfigured):No initialization of GSM modem will be done. Select this option if connected GSM modem is pre-configured and does not require initialization. Internal Modem Initialization:Select this option in case you have XLE OCS with internal modem. Siemens TC Modem Initialization: In case of external GSM modem, select this option.

User Initialization Script: • Select User Initialization Script • Configure initialization status register and provide initialization script • Type of Modem Initialization used affects various settings that are available on the COM Port screen • Enter the starting register address location used to store the additional modem initialization script’s latest command executed. This is a block of 10 registers that are consecutive in memory. • For example, if you are using R301 - R310, you need to enter the starting register address as %R301. • Enter (or select)  the I/O Name • User Specific Modem Initialization Script Enter your script in this box.

  23. SMS target directory Before creating Send or Receive messages, a directory of phone numbers needs to be created. Configure the following screen to build a directory.

SMS target directory Click Add Contact to add a member Click Delete Contactto remove a listing after highlighting the row Click Modify Contact if a member is already added in the directory.  To modify the member listing, either double-clickthe row or highlight the row and click Modify Contact. Configure in the Modify Contact Information screen

  25. SMS send/receive messages Before creating send or receive messages, a directory needs to be created. After the directory is created, configure the following screen: Click Add New Message to add a new message.   Click Delete Message to remove a message after highlighting the row. Click Modify Message to edit a message that is already on the list. Either double-click the row or highlight the row and click Modify Message.

Serial protocols support • Introduced in Cscape 6.7c on the LX • Available on the XLe with Cscape 8.0 • Each serial port may use a different protocol • Data is mapped to/from device to/from internal registers on the OCS • Protocols supported: • Modbus ASCII and RTU Master • GE Fanuc SNP • Allen-Bradley DF1 • Horner CsCAN • Control Techniques CT RTU • Danfoss VLT5000 • Check our website for an up to date list

  41. Serial protocols: setting up • In the menu bar select Program/Protocol config... Click on drop down button to select from a list of supported protocols.
