Mission Statement • To create relevant library services for Adult Learners, Adult New Readers, and Persons with Disabilities • To develop closer relationships between Carriage Public Library and community groups • To implement outreach programs in the surrounding communities • To provide staff training

  3. About the Library • Consists of 10 libraries • Four central libraries with in-depth collections • Six neighborhood branch libraries • Bookmobile • Digital library

  4. Special Events & Programs • Deaf History Month: May • National Literacy Month: September

  5. Branch Libraries • Bay view Branch • Kent Road Branch • Milford University Branch • Morningside Branch • Weeping Log River Branch • Wilderness Beach Branch

  6. Community Outreach Programs • Adult literacy • Correctional facilities • Elderly adults & nursing homes • English as a Second Language (ESL) • Persons with disabilities • Persons without homes • Senior citizens

  7. Volunteering Guidelines • Previous experience is not necessary • Mandatory health screening • Must complete initial volunteer training • Must be available for at least nine months after training • Must volunteer at least twice a week for four hours each week • Be available to train other volunteers

  8. Volunteer Opportunities • Literacy tutors • Computer Instructors • Children’s Hour Story Tellers • After-school story hour • Book-mobile story hour
