  1. REDEMPTION Redemption: “To loose; loosen; to buy back; to release on receipt ofransom” Mat 20:28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a RANSOM for many.

  2. REDEMPTION • Redemption, as presented in the New Testament, portrays Jesus Christ the REDEEMER coming into the slave market of the world to pay the purchase price for all persons, redeeming them by his blood. • Rom 3:24 • and are justified freely by his grace through the REDEMPTION that came by Christ Jesus, God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.

  3. Man is under the dominion of sin! • Rom 6:14 • For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. • Rom 7:14 • We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.

  4. Man is under the dominion of sin • John 8:34 • Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. • John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. • FREE FROM SIN AND THE PENELTY OF SIN, AND FREE FROM THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH.

  5. MAN IS UNDER THE CURSE OF LAW! • Rom 6:14-17 • For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death,

  6. MAN IS UNDER THE CURSE OF LAW! • Rom 6: 14-17 • Or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you whole heartedly obeyed the form ofteaching to which you were entrusted. • Consider this is written to Christians in Rome. That’s why they are not under law, BECAUSE THEY HAVE OBEYED THE GOSPEL.

  7. MAN IS UNDER THE CURSE OF LAW! • Gal 3:10-12 • All who rely on observing the law areunder a curse, for it is written: “cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the law. Clearly no one is justified before God bythe law, because, “The righteous will live by faith. The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, “The man who does these things will live by them.”

  8. MAN IS UNDER THE CURSE OF LAW! • Gal 3:13 & 14 • Christ redeemed us from the curseof thelaw by becoming a curse for us for it is written Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree. He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

  9. LIFE UNDER THE LAW • If one thinks he can be justified by keeping the law, any law he or she must keep it 100%. With out so much as one slip-up. That is the perfection God requires of us. Once you slip up and break a law you are a law violator, and in need of a Savior. The law of Moses was more than the 10 Commandments. The law contained over 500 precepts to be obeyed, and no one has been able to keep them. Don’t make the mistake in thinking “I’m not so bad!”

  10. MAN IS UNDER THE CURSE OF LAW • Gal 4:4 & 5 • But when the time had fully come God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.

  11. MAN IS UNDER THE JUDGMENT OF GOD’S WRITH • Rom 2:1-11 • Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere man pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that Gods kindness leads you toward repentance?

  12. MAN IS UNDER THE JUDGMENT OF GOD’S WRATH • Rom 2:1-11 • But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God will give to each person according to what he has done.

  13. Man is under the judgment of God’s wrath • To those who by persistence in dong good seek glory, honor and immortality he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good; first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism.

  14. Man is under the judgment of God’s wrath • Rom 3:19 • Now we know that what ever the law says, it says to those who are under the law ,so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to god. • Rom 5:9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!

  15. MAN IS UNDER THE JUDGMENT OF GOD’S WRATH • John 3:36 • Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. • “Whoever believes in the Son.” Belief requires one to obey the Gospel. Belief is not just an intellectual assent. Even Satin has the intellectual assent, of Christ but he has no hope as we do. Go back and read slide 6 again. (Romans 6)

  16. MAN IS UNDER THE JUDGEMENT OF GOD’S WRATH • 1 Thess 1:10 • And to wait for his son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead – Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

  17. MAN IS UNDER THE SENTENCE OF DEATH • Rom 6:23 • For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life “IN CHRIST JESUS” our Lord. • Wages is what we earn, and this says on payday we will have earned death, unless we are found to be “IN CHRIST”

  18. JESUS IS GOD’S PROVIDED REDEEMER • 1 Pet 1:18-20 • For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.

  19. JESUS IS GOD’S PROVIDED REDEEMER • Rev 5:9&10 • And they sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and withyour blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.

  20. JESUS IS GOD’S PROVIDED REDEEMER • Acts 20:28 • Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.

  21. The Redeemed • The Church is not a building as so many think. The Church is people, the redeemed people of God. They are a community of blood bought believers, who have obeyed the Gospel, because of their belief and trust in God and what his word has taught them.

  22. JESUS, MAN’S REDEEMER • 1 Pet 1:18-20 • For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of theworld, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.

  23. “You were redeemed from the empty way of life.’ Jesus paid the ransom price to rescue you from the empty life under the law that only led to death. • “He was chosen before the creation of the world.” This Jesus was chosen to be the redeemer of fallen mankind even before God created the universe. God knew beforehand that man would sin, and he already had a plan to save his creation which he loved.

  24. JESUS MAN’S REDEEMER • 1 Cor 6:19 &20 • Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at aprice. Therefore honor God with your body. (Redeemed)

  25. JESUS HAS REDEEMED US • Jesus in paying the price, ransoms man from: Sin • Law • Wrath • Death • You are not your own, you were bought with a price, therefore live for God who now owns your soul, and must be LORD of your life.
