  4. Introduction PeopleSoft is an integrated software package that provides a wide variety of business applications to assist in the day-to-day execution and operation of business processes. Each individual application, such as Financials, Customer Relationship Management and Human Resources, interacts with others to offer an effective and efficient means of working and reporting in an integrated fashion across the enterprise.

About PeopleSoft • Founded in 1987 by David Duffield and Ken Morris. • Originally headquartered in Walnut Creek, California.  • Moved to Pleasanton, California, USA. • Built on a client-server architecture. • PeopleSoft grew to be the world’s second-largest application independent software company before being acquired by Oracle in January 2005. • The PeopleSoft name and product line are now marketed by Oracle.

  19. THE CLIENT • An Automotive Company -Mexico • One of the Fourth-largest automaker companies in North America with more than 36,000 employees.

  20. THE CHALLENGE • A plant located in Mexico, currently employs approximately 650 people and plans to hire another 50 people. • The goal was to standardize and enhance real time business applications for Human Capital Information Management.

REQUIREMENTS • Administer all Human Resources information. • Provide a payroll system that fulfills all Mexico’s Taxes and social security laws. • Ability to interface to all other systems such as PeopleSoft • Financials, Performance management and Actual costing. • Ability to administer employees’ time and attendance. • Provide a way to control and maintain the cafeteria system. • Provide group leaders with necessary tools for managing their employees.
