Moses’ excuses surely seemed absurd to God. “ Come now, therefore , and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt” (v 10 ). Moses put forward excuse after excuse. Moses was in many respect an evangelist. All of us serve as evangelists.
Moses to God: “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”
Moses to God: “God, suppose I go to the people, and they say to me, ‘Which God sent you?’”
Moses to God: “But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, ‘The Lordhas not appeared to you.’”
God gave Moses & the apostles signs to establish faith in what Moses & the apostles taught.
Moses to God: “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”
