  2. Mandate • To represent the interests of Kitikmeot Inuit by protecting and promoting our social, cultural, political, environmental and economic well‐being. • Affected communities: • Closest - Omingmaktok (Bay Chimo) • Kingaok (Bathurst Inlet) • Ikaluktuktiak (Cambridge Bay)

Inuit Owned Lands • Lease Negotiations • Ongoing and need to be finalized before amendments & production • Landfill, Landfarm, bulk samples, etc. • Reclamation Security • Ongoing • Water use fees (Article 20) • Quarry permits • Openness about development plans • KIA strives for open communications

  4. Compensation Agreements • Designated Inuit Organization for: • Wildlife compensation (Article 6) • KIA has developed compensation procedures for destruction of terrestrial mammals • Currently developing compensation procedures for destruction of fish • Water compensation (Article 20) • Tail Lake compensation agreement completed • Windy Lake? Other lakes or streams?

Other Roles and Interests • Inuit Impact and Benefits Agreement (Article 26) • Implementation of original Doris North IIBA • Participation in regulatory processes • Nunavut Planning Commission (Article 11) • Nunavut Impact Review Board (Article 12) • Environmental Assessment • Monitoring • Nunavut Water Board (Article 13) • Water Quality standards • Reclamation security

Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit • KIA demanded to be sole contractor for IQ Projects • KIA is in best position to compile and provide reports: • Naonaiyaotit Traditional Knowledge Project • Substantial amount of regional data available • KIA Team has skills to plan and initiate data collection, and to compile & deliver reports • Site Specific IQ projects required • Currently contracted to integrate TuktuNogait Project data into NTKP • KIA has capacity to manage/protect IQ • Reports provided “without prejudice” • Will not influence regulatory positions
