  1. Google bombs By Maria Diaz

  2. Google bomb • Google bomb is an attempt to influence the ranking of a given site in results returned by the Google search engine. Due to the way that Google's PageRank algorithm works, a website will be ranked higher if the sites that link to that page all use consistent anchor text.

  3. George w.bush • U.S. President George W. Bush was the subject of a variety of Google bombs. "Miserable failure" was the first. In October 2003, an effort was launched to create links of "miserable failure" to the official White House biography of President Bush. In about six weeks, the link to George W. Bush's biography became the first result for "miserable failure" on a Google search. A blogger from Washington has since taken credit for starting this tactic, though the phrase had been in heavy use following its adoption as a catchphrase by the Dick Gephardt campaign.

  4. Barack obama • Along with an economic crisis and a host of national challenges, Obama inherited a link to an embarrassing Google term, as reported our friends at the Times Technology blog. Remember that prank the blogosphere pulled on Bush a few years ago that skyrocketed the former president's White House profile page to the top spot for a Google search for "miserable failure?"

  5. Rick Santorum • became a successful Google bomb when Savage created a website for it, which unseated the Senator's official website as the top search result for his surname on the Google web search engine.[2][3] In 2010, Dan Savage offered to remove his website if Rick Santorum would agree to donate US$5 million to a gay rights group, Freedom to Marry, which advocates on behalf of same-sex marriage in the United States.

  6. thoughts • Google bombing influence the ranking of a given site .and affects many people including celebrititys and presidents even leaders from the past but only affects people that let it get to them and in order to increase the likelihood of people finding and clicking on selections in which the individual or other entity engaging in this practice is interested.
