  2. SAT REASONING • Required by almost ALL 4-year colleges • Tests Verbal, Math and Writing skills • Test is 3 hours and 45 minutes long • Cost: $45

  3. When should I take the SAT Reasoning? • Once in Spring of your Junior year • Once in the Fall of your Senior year • ALL testing must be completed by December of your Senior year

  4. How do Colleges look at scores? • UC’s • CSU’S • Privates

  5. ACT • Alternative to the SAT • Structure of test • Optional Writing Section • Cost: $30 without writing $ 44.50 WITH writing

  6. SAT Subject Test • Measures knowledge and skills in a particular subject • Like a final exam • UC requirement – two required • CSU requirement – NONE required • Private Schools – check with schools

  7. Subjects to Choose From: • Literature • Biology, Chemistry, Physics • US History or World History • Foreign Language • Math Level 2

  8. When should I take the Subject Tests? • May – if enrolled in an AP • June of your Junior year • Fall of your Senior year if necessary

  9. How do I register for the SAT/ACT? • SAT Reasoning or Subject Tests www.collegeboard.org • ACT www.actstudent.org

  10. How do I send scores to my Colleges? • Official Scores • First 4 are FREE! • Last time you take SAT’s – send to ALL schools • ACT- send best sitting • NCAA - 9999 • CSU - 3594
