  2. The A-Z list gives you basic information about each journal

  3. For example, the journal Heart

  4. This information includes the name of the supplier • Heart - BMJ , Oct 1997 - , All NHS Athens In the case of Heart the supplier is the BMJ group

  5. Alternatively, • Journal of allied health ProQuest , Apr 2002 - , All NHS Athens In this second example the supplier is Proquest.

  6. Select the supplier of the journal you wish to read from the list below to see a short presentation showing how to download • BMJ • Clinical Key • EBSCO • Highwire • Internurse • JAMA • Nature • Ovid • Proquest • Sage • Science Direct • Springer • Wiley

  7. A BMJ title: Journal of clinical pathology

  8. Clicking on the title of this journal takes you to the Athens login screen

  9. Enter your Athens details and click Login

  10. A list of available issues appears and the information at the top right of the screen shows that you’ve logged in successfully

  11. Select the issue you want to view (I’ve chosen June 2013)

  12. The contents appear and you can select the paper you want to download

  13. In glorious PDF for convenient printing…

  14. Click here to return to supplier menu • Click here for the next supplier • Press Esc key to exit

  17. Select the volume and issue you want

  18. …and download the paper you require

  22. Enter your Athens details and click Login

  23. Click on the publication year of your paper (2004 in my example)

  24. Select the appropriate issue

  25. The issue downloads…

  26. Once you’ve found the paper you want click on PDF to download it

  27. Ready to print…

  30. Anesthesia and analgesia Note that this journal has a one year embargo period. This means that only issues that are more than twelve months old are available for download. (However, there are more issues from this title available from OVID, our alternative supplier.) Click on the title of the journal to proceed.

  34. Then select the appropriate issue

  35. Find the right paper…

  40. Now you’ve been recognised simply select the issue you’re looking for from the list that appears

  41. Select the paper you want…

  42. And download it.
