  4. Canary Island Facts and Culture • The Official language is Spanish. • The population is • approximately 1,900,000. • The islands are about the size of Hawaii. • The currency of the Islands is the Euro.

  5. History of the Canary Islands • Jean de Bethencourt conquered the island of Hierro in 1405. • It took many years for the canary islands to be conquered . • Finally In 1496 the Spanish completed the conquest of the Canary Islands.
