  3. PROBLEMS PERFORMING CPR • ELBOWS STRAIGHT AND SHOULDERS OVER STERNUM • PIVOT AT THE HIPS NOT KNEES • DO NOT PUT HAND OVER XIPHOID PROCESS (CAN LACERATE LIVER) • KEEP HAND ON CHEST • FINGERS OFF RIBS

  4. COMPRESSIONS • TOO SLOW / TOO FAST (POOR CIRCULATION • 1 1/2 “ TO 2 “ (MAY BREAK RIBS) • 15 COMPRESSIONS • 10 - 11 SEC. • 2 BREATHS • KEEP VICTIM ON HARD SURFACE

  7. RATE AND DEPTH

  8. RATIO, BREATH, SEAL

  9. CONTINUE UNTIL: • BREATHING OR CIRCULATION START • QUALIFIED PERSON TAKES OVER • PRONOUNCED DEAD BY PROPER AUTHORITY (DOCTOR OR CORONER) • ONLY AS LAST RESORT / BECOME FATIGUED AND CAN’T CONTINUE • BECOMES UNSAFE TO ASSIST
