1. CLS Presentation Template Template Guidelines The Columbia Law School PowerPoint Template This template is also a presentation with a built-in palette, master layouts and pre-formatted content slides. It is self-contained and portable; additional support files such as the “.potx” file are not required. Text Formatting • Use “Century Gothic” and “Calibri” fonts. Other fonts may not be installed or appear correctly on different computers (for presentations or printing). • Slide Titles and Headers should remain in a consistent point size and position. • When pasting text into a pre-formatted text box use “Home/Paste Special/ Unformatted Text" or “Keep Text Only” to prevent pasting unwanted formatting information from the text source. • Enter a space into a text placeholder to make it “invisible” but available for later use. To Create a New Presentation • Open this file and resave it with your filename by selecting “Save As” from the “File” menu. To Create New Slides and Objects • Duplicate and revise the pre-formatted slides in this presentation. Delete slides and objects you do not need. • Alternatively, create new slides using “Home/Insert New Slide” and selecting a Layout. In many cases it will be more efficient to duplicate and revise pre-formatted slides because they include additional pre-aligned, pre-formatted objects. • Copy and paste objects from one slide to another to revise rather than creating new objects from scratch. to save formatting time. Specific Slide Layout Tips • The “yellow bar” graphic on the “Cover 1” Layout has been placed directly on the slide so its length can be adjusted to match the length of the title text. (The bar on Cover 2 is not adjustable.) • The two “Big Statement” Layouts provide customizable backgrounds. See the instructions placed directly on those slides. Printing in Black and White • Select “Print” from PowerPoint’s “File” menu and select the “Color” setting even when printing to a Black and White printer. A known bug causes issues such as borders around tables and text boxes when “Grayscale” and “Pure Black and White” is selected.
