  1. Two Sides To The Holiday Season

  2. The Dangers And Opportunities • Dangers we should guard against: • A time for giving and being together can turn into a time for greed and materialism (1 Tim. 6:6-10) • Allowing other cares and concerns to interfere with our spiritual priorities (Matthew 22:37-38) • It can be a very dark time for those who struggle with depression (1 Peter 4:7-13) • Lost loved ones, feeling alone, financial problems, etc. • The Philippians Cure: Pray more (4:6); be around strong people (4:9); meditate on good things (4:8); focus on worship (4:4); get active physically and spiritually (4:9, 13) • To acting like Christians… Our character… the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23)

  3. The Dangers And Opportunities • Opportunities we can take advantage of: • To be a servant and a giver… To get personally vested in helping others (James 1:27; Matt 25:34-46) • To speak to others about the gospel of Christ and encourage them to get right with God (Phil 1:15-18) • To teach others about the truth, the importance of authority, and NT Christianity (2 Peter 2:24-26) • To allow the glory of the Lord and fellowship with God to shine through our life (2 Cor. 2:14-15)
