The Strategy: uOttawa’s Evolving Clinical Brain-Related Illnesses Research • OHRI • Parkinson’s, MS, Stroke… • Eating Disorders, Psychosis, Psychosomatics… • uO IMHR • Depression, Stress & Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Youth, Forensic • CHEORI • ADHD, Depression, Eating Disorders… • EBRI (Élisabeth Bruyère Research Institute) • Faculty of Medicine Departments of Medicine (Neurology, Rehabilitation), Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Family Medicine (Geriatrics) • uOttawa Faculty of Social Sciences (Psychology)

  12. The Strategy A focus and leading edge in research in brain-related illnesses

  13. The Tactic: Opportunities in Brain-Related Illnesses Research • From the clinical realities of Brain-Related Illnesses: a common organ dysfunction with high clinical co-morbidities • e.g. stroke-memory-depression;. Parkinson’s-anxiety-psychosis • For integration from the fragmentation • Basic research with basic research; clinical research with clinical research • For translational links from translational gaps • Basic-Human-Clinical-Service organization-… • From funding contexts • CIHR, Illness-based agencies, Canadian Mental Health Commission • From an advancement perspective • From Ottawa’s eagerness for “Big Visions” • From a new Dean’s opportunities

  14. The Strategy and Tactic A focus and leading edge in research in brain-related illnesses through the creation of a uO Brain & Mind Research Institute
