  2. Where is Nepal? • Nepal is situated in South-Asia. • Nepal is a landlocked country which lies between two big and powerful countries India and China. • Nepal is a small country which covers an area of 147,181 square kilometers.

  3. About the topography of Nepal • Nepal is divided into three topographical regions which are: • Himalayan region • Hilly region • Terai region

  4. Some features of Nepal • Nepal is the only Hindu country of the world. • Nepal is a country having constitutional monarchy. • Nepal is an agricultural country. About 80% of the population depend on agriculture • The highest peak of the world, Mount Everest, 8848 meters, is situated in Nepal. • Nepal has a diversity of rich cultures. • Different languages are spoken. • Different traditions are followed.

  5. History of Nepal • Earlier, Nepal was scattered in small countries. • One Shah king named Prithivi Narayan Shah unified all the small countries into one single country which is Nepal now.

  6. Main attractions of Nepal • Beautiful natural sceneries • Trekking, rafting, bungee jumping, jungle safari, etc. • Ancient monuments, rich culture and hospitality of people attract everyone.

  7. Contemporary problems in NepaL • Political instability • Illiteracy • Over-population

  8. Political instability • The government has been failing to maintain political stability which has led to terrorism activities in Nepal. • This has been a major factor of repulsion for tourists when tourism is one of the main source of income for Nepal.

  9. Illiteracy and Over-population • Nepal has a high illiteracy rate. • Illiteracy is one of the major reasons for over-population. • Over-population has led to scarcity of the service and materials needed by the people.
