  3. The Gospel Is… Simple • Information (15:3-4) • Jesus died for our sins 1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit

  4. The Gospel Is… Simple • Information (15:3-4) • Jesus died for our sins • Jesus rose from the dead Acts 2:24 But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.

  10. The Gospel Is… Offensive • To those who believe: wisdom & power 1 Corinthians 15:55–57 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

  12. The Gospel Is… Offensive Why doesn’t the world see the truth of it? Because they can’t (2:14) 2 Corinthians 4:4 …the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ...

  13. The Gospel Is… Offensive Why doesn’t the world see the truth of it? Because they can’t (2:14) Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.

  14. The Gospel Is… Offensive Why can we see the truth of it? Because God opened our eyes (1:24) John 6:44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.”
