  2. WHAT IS THE PERSONAL PROJECT? • a significant body of work produced over an extended period of time • a truly creative piece of work of your own choice and your own initiative

  3. WHY PERSONAL PROJECT? • IB requirement for all MYP students in year 5 • has to reflect and show understanding of skills and topics taught in MYP • has to show understanding of fundamental concepts of IB MYP philosophy , Areas of interaction and IB learner profile • Prepares you for the DIP

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF PP-correspond to the Assesment criteria for PP • Objective A – Use the process journal • Objective B – Define the goal of PP • Objective C – Select sources • Objective D – Apply information • Objective E – Achieve the goal set at the start • Objective F – Reflect on learning • Objective G – Report the project

  5. A process journal An outcome or product A detailed report WHAT DOES THE PP INCLUDE?

  6. What is process journal? A document where you document • the planning of the project, • useful information ( photos, quotes, comments, notes, etc.) • your ideas • reflection on stages of the project • evaluation of work completed • your reflection on learning It can be be written,visual, audio or a combination of these and might include both paper and electronic formats.

  7. A PRODUCT OR OUTCOME • an original work of art-piece of creative writing, a sculpture, a music piece, a song, etc. • a model • a business plan • a campaign • a blueprint or architectural drawing • an essay • a course of study • a debate • a film/video

REPORTING THE PERSONAL PROJECT • a written report in the format of an academic report, a website, blog or similar- between 1,500-3,500 words not including bibliography, appendices or reference list Structure of the written report: • Title page, table of contents, body of the report, bibliography or reference list, appendices • an oral report that includes visual support-up to 15min.oral presentation, • a multimedia presentation such as a short film or a website that includes both written text and an audio-visual component • Other formats of reports must also include the title page, summary of the project, bibliography and reference list

THE SUPERVISOR IS • an MYP teacher whose responsibility is to guide you and advise you while working on your personal project • an MYP teacher with whom you meet on regular basis whilst working on the PP • responsible for the assessment of the project • if necessary some other professional outside the school who could help/advise you with PP

  10. PHASE 1 OF PP • choose a topicandsubmitthetopic to the MYP coordinatorby13:00 Wednesday ,9th October , 2013 • by13:00,Friday , 18th, October , 2013 supervisorwillbeassignedandthe list oftopics, studentsandsupervisorswillbeposted on the MYP noticeboardacrossfromtheMYPCoordinator's office

PHASE 2 OF PP byThursday, 31st October 2013, • meetanddiscussyour PP topicwiththesupervisor • narrowdownthetopicandidentify a clearandachiveablegoal • describeandjustify a focus on one areaofinteraction – AOI sheet • make a detailed plan of HOW youwant to achieveyourgoal • decide on dates for yourmeetingswiththesupervisor - every2 weeks is a minimum/twice a month at least

PHASE 3 OF PP Between 31st October 2013 and28th March 2014 makesure youhave done thefollowing: • followedthemeetings’ schedulei.e. had at least 10 documentedmeetingswithyoursupervisor • submittedyour PP journal to thesupervisorineverymeeting • metthedeadlines set for youbythesupervisor • keptyoursupervisorapprisedofyourprogress on theproject

  13. PHASE 4 OF PP by 31st March, 2014 Youwillhave : • submittedyourfinaldraftofthereport • submittedthe personal projectitself to thesupervisor • submittedtheprocessjournal to thesupervisor

  14. KEEPING DEADLINES • IN CASE YOU FAIL TO FOLLOW/ KEEP THE DEADLINES THERE WILL BE POINTS TAKEN OFF THE PP NO PERSONAL PROJECT ( FINAL DRAFT) WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE DETERMINED DEADLINE !!!!!!!!

  15. PP FESTIVALWednesday , 2nd April 2014 • Presentationof all Personal projects at theCinemahall • Invite 1mm(MYP4) studentsand Matija Gubec elementaryschool grade 8 ( MYP3) students for the PP Festival
