Discussion Board • The Discussion Board is organized around forums which contain different topics. • Begin by clicking on Discussions on Course Home NavBar. • Click on New Forum. Complete New ForumDetails and Availability information. • Click SAVE.
Discussion Board… • Click on Forum & Topic List. Your new forum appears. • Click on New Topic to add a topic to this forum. • Complete New Topic Details, using pull down menu to select the Forum where you want this placed. • If desired, indicate datesfor Visibility and Locking. • Click SAVE.
Discussion Board… • If you want to grade discussion board posts & have grades entered automatically in grade book: • Click on the Assessment tab under Edit Topic (pen icon next to your topic name) and complete grade info: • Click SAVE.
Grading Discussion Board Posts: • Click on the Assessment icon next to topic title: • Click on the Topic Score link to read the post.
Score message at right, check the grade box near top, and click SAVE & it’s automatically entered into Grades.

To e-mail students using Course Mail • Click on Course Mail on top navigation bar • Decide how you want to filter your mail: • Now click on Compose.
Click on Address Book and then scroll down to desired student’s name. • Check box next to name and click on TO. (The name will appear above in the “Recipients” box.) • Click on Add Recipients at lower right. Now you’ll be back at Compose New Message screen.

Adding Content • Watch SDSU video: http://ids.sdstate.edu/WebCT/d2l201/flash/D2l%20Tutorials/Content/content/content.html • Let’s Practice!Click on Content on the lower navigation bar.
Quick Review of Steps to Add Content… • Click on New Module • Give it a title and click Save. • Click Manage Content againto see added module. • Now click on New Topic. • Use one of four ways to add content to your topic. Fill in dialog boxes for: Create New File, Course File, Uploading New File, or QuickLink. • Click SAVE. • If desired, click on Restrictions to hide the topic or set up release dates. • Click SAVE.
P.S. Uploading Zipped Files & Unzipping them in D2L • Click on Edit Course/Manage Files. • Click on Upload: • Browse to where your zipped file is saved and click Upload.
Your zip file will appear in Manage Files. Now click on unzip icon and click “OK”: • Your individual files will be unzipped in Manage Files:
