Pomo. By Katie Rivera. Where they live. The Pomo were a Native American tribe that lived near the Pacific Ocean in Northern,California. Their tribe reached from the Pacific Ocean to Clear Lake. There were lots of trees there. They also lived near lakes, rivers, and streams. Homes.

  2. Where they live The Pomo were a Native American tribe that lived near the Pacific Ocean in Northern,California. Their tribe reached from the Pacific Ocean to Clear Lake. There were lots of trees there. They also lived near lakes, rivers, and streams.

  3. Homes The Pomo built their homes out of different materials. Pomos who lived near the Russian River built their houses with brush and grass. The Pomo also built their houses near Clear Lake.

  4. Food The Pomo ate many different kinds of food. The Pomo aet elk, deer, and rabbit.

  5. Jobs The men hunted and fished. They made tools, knives, axes, wove fishing nets, and traps. They made canoes and baby carriers out of tule.

  6. Clothing The Pomo made cloth out of Willow, Redwood, and tule. Men wore leggings, breechcloth, moccasins. The women wore skirts that hung to their ankles. The Pomo also wore rabbit fur in the Winter.

  7. Celebrations The Pomo enjoyed many activities. They sang songs and played music with flutes, whistles, clappersticks, rattles, and drums made out of hollow logs. The Pomo danced and wore colorful clothing.

  8. Interesting Facts If the Pomo had extra food they would invite their friends and family over for a feast. Only the richest Pomo’s owned deerskin, robes, and skirts. There were seven different Pomo languages.
