Mrs. Hein’s Weekly Newsletter! September 28, 2012. Language Arts
This week for Lead 21, we have been learning all about different feelings and we read a new poem called Feelings. We also read a story with real photographs called On Monday When It Rained. We’ve worked in our practice books comparing and contrasting picture clues as well as emotions.
This week we learned letters Ee, Ff, Gg, and Hh! We had fun learning some rhymes for these letters. We also made a list on the board of all of our friend’s names that have these letters in them. Have fun going on a letter hunt at home! Be sure to place your child’s Alphabet Folder (yellow one) in a safe place. Please read over the teacher letter found in the front pocket. You may go on a letter hunt with your kiddo or just have fun reading over the poems and rhymes found on the front and back of each sheet. Thanks so much and Happy Reading!!
This week, we learned all about the differences between 4 kinds of apples: Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, and McIntosh. We had an apple taste test too.
Happy Birthday to you…
John Chapman~ Sept. 26th
Plus…in honor of Johnny Appleseed’s Birthday and of our Picture Day…we made our own “APPLE SMILES!” With 2 Red delicious slices for the mouth and mini marshmallows for the teeth! YUM! Thanks for sending in all the apples for these fun treats!
The first math test on Sorting and Positions went home. They need to be signed and returned by Tuesday, October 2nd. Great Job Kindergarten Kiddos!! Please remember to practice Left and Right. We have started our next unit all about graphing and have made a REAL GRAPH with the boys and girls in the classroom. Enjoy the math story that went home with your kiddo too! Next week be on the lookout for a family fun math homework activity to come home with your kiddo. Stay tuned!
How Do You Know It’s Fall?
We shared a special fall story with real photographs about how we know it is fall. Please read over the information sheet that your kiddo brought home. Also, enjoy going on a Nature Walk over the weekend to look for the many signs of Fall!
ALL ABOUT SPEECH
This week we had a chance to have Mrs. Barrow, our speech teacher, come to the classroom to teach us about all of the parts that we use to produce sounds when we talk. The kiddos will be getting their hearing checked next week. Mrs. Barrow did a little demonstration for the boys and girls so they will know just what to do!
Wednesday, October 3rd ~ Hearing Screenings
Please try to help your child with writing his/her first name using one capital letter and the rest lowercase. Practice Pages were sent home today with your kiddo. These do NOT need to be returned to school with your kiddo, but they are to serve as practice pages at home for your and your kiddo.
Also…please talk to your kiddo about the important rules for our classroom….
BE SAFE (hands and feet to self)
BE READY (Give Me Five)
BE RESPONSIBLE (listen to directions)
BE RESPECTFUL (be kind to others)
Please remember to SIGN and return the contract that went home at Open House!
