  3. What should I call you? • Let me tell you a little about myself. • Ajaya Swain • A PhD candidate in OM

  5. How tough are the exams? • No exams in this class ! • The class will be broken up into groups with three to four members each depending on the size of the class. • Each group will make two presentations and turn in two project papers. • Possible 400 points • 150 Two group presentations ( 75 points each) • 150 Two group projects ( 75 points each) • 40 points assigned to each group member by fellow members. • 60 Attendance points

  6. I wonder how you expect papers to be written!! Two project papers with instructions to follow.

  7. Wow! never heard that accent. What if I can’t understand you well enough? • Ask me to repeat something you do not understand. • Do not wait until the middle of the semester to inform me you did not understand the material or my way of speaking.

  8. Will I have to say anything out loud in this class. • Becoming effective in communication both speaking and writing—should be one outcome from a college education. • Being an articulate speaker is always useful in the world of work, no matter what vocation you choose. • Yes, you are going to have to speak out loud in this class.

  9. Does anybody really care if I come late or leave early? • Absolutely • We need to start on time • Work until the material is covered • Sixty points to lose, attendance is kept up with

  10. How will I know what is important in this class? • I will tell you what you need to know so that you can do well in this class • I want you to pass this class, it does me or you no good for you not to pass • Focus Groups
