Emotional Development • Children who master emotional regulation become more capable in every aspect of their lives. • Emotional regulation is the ability to control when and how emotions are expressed. • Children learn that they can be friends to new acquaintances but not too friendly, or be angry about a confiscated toy but not explosive. • Distract themselves and limit impulses if need be • Continue throughout life.
