Metadata Tagging Policy • IC Standard 500-21: Tagging of Intelligence and Intelligence-Related Information • Optimal Data Encodings • Specified preference for XML • Metadata Tagging Quality • Implement Metadata Quality Program • Tagging of Classification and Control Markings • Use ISM.XML • Tagging of Information Resource Metadata • Use IRM.XML • Tagging of Disseminated Textual Information • Use PUBS.XML • Submission of Tagged Information to Enterprise Information Repositories • In accordance with IC CIO-designation of enterprise information repositories • Submit IRM.XML information resource metadata • Or • Submit PUBS.XML disseminated textual information

Forum Participation • Data Coordination Activity • Meets monthly • Participants from all IC elements and many DoD elements, requires gov’t sponsor • Members appointed by IC Information Sharing Steering Committee • Addresses higher-level mission needs • Coordinates organizational reviews • Provides insights, guidance, and direction on new and ongoing efforts • Common Metadata Standards Tiger Team • Meets monthly • Participants from all IC elements and many DoD elements , requires gov’t sponsor • Members appointed by IC Information Sharing Steering Committee • Select or develops specific ICSs and IPs • Performs low-level technical reviews • Collaborates in writing, review, and testing
