  2. EUREKA! • One morning on January 24th, 1848, Marshall saw GOLD!!!! James Marshall was the one who started the gold rush. When he found gold he told his boss then the word got out and that’s how the gold rush started.

  3. SUTTER • Sutter was Marshall’s boss.

  4. How the gold rush started! When they found gold they kept it a secret. But later it got out and that’s how the gold rush started.

  5. The overland route • The overland route to C.A. was rough and many died. Cholera was a bad disease back then.

  6. The panama shortcut • The fastest way was to use the panama shortcut. You had to go to panama by boat, walk across panama, and get on another boat. It was really dangerous.

  7. How to get to C.A. • Another way was to go down and around South America. It was longer but more safe.

  8. Children of the gold rush • Children didn’t go to school they did chores at there house.

  9. Who got rich? • Very few people got rich. San Brannon got rich though. He was 30 when the gold rush started.
