  2. Facts Most people only know Leonardo Da Vinci as a artist, or inventor But actually, he was also a Scientist He mainly studied in the works of Anatomy. He was born in Vinci, Italy. That is Where he got his last name from, Literally in 1452. But he died in 1519 At age 67

  3. Scientist • He made many discoveries in meteorology, and geology. • Also he learned most of the effects the moon had on the tides, (high tide, low tide) • And he was one of the first thinkers of the formation on the continents.

  4. Information • Leonardo Da Vinci was a very intelligent person of his time. • He perfected the means of illegible handwriting in order for no one to be able to steal his ideas, he was writing in mirror script. • Mirror script is when someone would right something and have to have a mirror to translate what was being said. He was a very interesting person.

  5. Information cont. • He recorded everything he ever done in notebooks that made up the Codex Atlanticus. • Codex meaning book. • Back in the day, he was a well known Evolutionary Biologist, and a Paleontologist • Which meant that he enjoyed looking for fossils and like Charles Darwin he was into the evolutionary cycle of the animals, and people alike.

  6. Evolution • Leonardo was far more than a great artist: he had one of the best scientific minds of his time. • As hard as that may be to believe it, but its true. • The first time he started thinking of evolution was when he was on top of some mountains, and saw shells. • Clearly he was miles upon miles away from any water • So he showed his friends of the fossils he had found

  7. Evolution cont. • When they came to see the shells that were fossilized as Leonardo had said, they simply shrugged it off and was telling him of the great flood. • Noah’s ark flood. • He didn’t believe in a simple “world-wide” flood such as the one in the bible.

  8. Evolution cont. • His words were "if the shells had been carried by the muddy deluge they would have been mixed up, and separated from each other amidst the mud, and not in regular steps and layers--as we see them now in our time." • Leonardo came up with the most logical answer on how they got there as he could, he stated that the mountains at some point in time were the coastal line.
