Location of the Taiga • It stretches across Canada, Europe, and Asia • it is the largest biome in the world

Characteristics of the Taiga • In the Taiga it is below freezing for 6 months of the year • Total yearly precipitation is 12-33 inches • It is cold in the winter and warm and humid in the summer

Plants that live in the Taiga • Spruce • Hemlock • Fir • Birch • Poplar • Aspen

Animals in the Taiga • Bohemian waxwing • Hawk owl • Pine grosbeak • Ermine • Eurasian beaver • European red squirrel • Lynx and Marten

What it takes to survive in the Taiga • Some grow dense coats • And some burrow underground

Why do they need adaptations? • So they d not FREEZE TO DEATH!

Evidence • My animal can survive in the wild because… • Its mountain goat head and spider monkey tail allows it to protect its self by using the horns on the mountain goats head to charge into enemies and the spider monkey tail hits people • Its large winter coat helps it survive the frigid winters
