  2. No two faith forums are the same . . . There is a wide range of faith forums across London: • started at different times and for different reasons • have different objectives • are funded & governed in different ways • have different activities • have different rules for membership • respond to local circumstances in different ways • have changed over the years in different ways

  3. ProvenanceHow did faith forums come about? Who wanted it to happen? Faith forums have emerged from existing groups or have started as a response to policy initiatives, events or community need: • Inter faith dialogue group • Regeneration initiative • Council consultation group • Response to event - 9/11, 7/7 • Prevent / cohesion initiative • Social action

ActivitiesWhat are we doing? • Consultations - parking, hate crime, cohesion, safeguarding, planning • Projects - sport, education, green, Peace Week, festivals, HMD, women, youth, Prevent, religious literacy • Visits to places of worship/practice • Inter faith dialogue • Employ worker(s), produce newletters, create websites

  5. PurposeWhy are we doing it? • Better communication between council & religious groups • Sounding board on policy • Local Strategic Partnership • Service delivery / SLAs • Joint projects • Greater understanding between religious groups • Social action • Solidarity across religious groups

  6. MembershipWho’s involved? • All faiths & none / selected (bars?) • Religious leaders / laity • Representatives from local area’s main faith groups / gaps • Council chairs, facilitates or sits on Forum

  7. FundingWho pays & for what? • No funding • Council (cash / kind) • CDF/DCLG • Charitable funds • Social enterprise • Membership • Core costs • Project funding • Employee(s)

  8. LegalstatusAccountable to whom? • Informal • Registered Charity • Charitable company
