And God spoke all these words, saying, 2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth Exodus 20:1-6

  5. . 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

  6. Sermon 3 God? Can You Trust…

  7. Espoused vs. real Each of us govern ourselves by a set of rules… What is the big becausein your life? Summumbonum Highest Good

  8. 1. If you don’t consciously decide what your highest Good is… it will be decided for you… and it won’t be about you.

  9. The big because reveals the real. The big because is where you get your rules from!

  10. You must also decide who is the “I” in the “because I say so” in your life.

  11. Where do your life rules come from? Who is the authority/authorities in your life?

  12. 2. We can choose our authority… But we are subject to that authority once it is chosen.

  13. We have a trust problem

  14. Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.2Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.3What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.4In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. Psalm 56:

  15. 5 Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.6 They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.7 Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?9 When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.

  16. 10 In God will I praise his word: in the Lord will I praise his word.11 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.12 Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.13 For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

  17. Set backs are set-ups for God to set you straight… get you back on course

  18. The real question is not “Can” I/You/We Trust God

  19. Will we take the word and Do what it says? Will we take up the cross and follow Him. 3. The question is “WILL” we trust GOD
