  2. Aims of briefing Outline why the council is seeking to commission the service. How we intent to achieve the outcomes. Explain current thinking on service design and specification. Answer questions from bidders about the grant application process. If we are unable to supply an answer today to any questions, we will take a note and aim to respond within 72 hours.

Why the Council is seeking to commission services for young people: Youth Review The assessment found very positive youth services that are valued by young people, their families and communities and are delivered by a skilled and committed workforce. Young people are unclear about what is on offer and services vary between different parts of the city. Good research evidence validates open access and targeted youth work and youth provision but it is difficult to assess the impact and comparative value for money of local services commissioned from the council’s delivery unit and external providers. Too many young people need specialist services without having received support from youth work or youth provision Services for Young Peoples, Joint Commissioning Strategy Fully supported through Council Co-production / Collaboration Worked with existing contract providers to refine the details for specification

  4. So what are we looking for: Youth providing services to Deliver youth work and youth provision in each of the 6 areas, with a clear leader and builds on the social capital within the community. Work in partnership with the Youth Council to ensure the delivery of an effective participation strategy and implement a co-production approach. Work with the CYPEN to ensure the services are inclusive. Work with the BHCC Youth Service to provide an integrated and clear care pathway.   5. Continued : So what are we looking for: Demonstrate that your proposal can make a difference to young peoples lives. Demonstrate your clear understanding of local young peoples needs Demonstrate how your proposal will build on the local social capital of each area. Demonstrate sophisticated and effective partnership working, engagement processes with young people and communication skills. Demonstrates value for money. E.g. reduce the need for long term, high cost interventions. Looking for new and innovative ways to deliver youth work and youth provision.
