Low Hanging Fruit • RESOLVED That by this resolution the AASHTO Board of Directors establishes a truck oversize/overweight permit harmonization initiative to focus initially on the following requirement categories (consistent with the AASHTO Guide for Vehicle Weights and Dimensions); • Escort Requirements • Warning Flags • Warning Lights • Warning Signs • Days and Hours of Operation

  6. Escort Requirements • Height • 2-lane highway • Multi-lane highway

  7. Escort Requirements • Length • 2-lane highway • Multi-lane highway

  8. Flags • Size • 18” x 18” minimum • Color • Fluorescent Red • Fluorescent Orange • MUTCD 2009 Standard • Transport Vehicle Number and Location • Four corners of load or extremities (length) • Escort Vehicle Number and Location • No Requirements

  9. Transport Warning Lights • Minimum • Flashing or Strobe Amber Light • Should be visible for 1,000’, 360°

  12. Sign/Banner • Location • Front and Rear of Transporting Vehicle so that view of license plate is not obstructed • Front and Rear of Escort OR • Above roofline of EscortVehicle so that Sign/Banner is visible from front and rear

  13. Days and Hours of Operations • Minimum • Daylight Hours • Sunrise to Sunset • Monday through Saturday • Sunday – States make determination
