Function of the Digestive System • The digestive system consists of the digestive tract and glands that secrete digestive juices into digestive tract. • It helps convert foods into smaller molecules in order to be absorb.
Description • Mouth • Pharynx • Esophagus • Stomach • Small intestine • Large intestine
Job of the organ • Mouth- the teeth tears and crush the moisten food into a a fine taste until is ready to go down • Saliva glands contains two enzymes- amylase (breaks chemical bonds between sugar monomers in starches, andlysozyme( an enzyme that fights infection) • Stomach- is a large muscular sac filled with chemical digestion • The lining of the stomach contains millions of microscopic gastric glands
